Big shocks! best in parts

My Jeep needed new shocks after other "budget" shocks failed after 2.5 years of use (very light terrain). I needed something that would take a 2.5" lift and they worked well, they tightened everything up and had great bounce for the price! I got my jeep again.

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Damaged

They are amazing: shock absorbers

if you put them in your jeep you can even drive it on bumps and whatnot. Absolutely worth the money. These are Billsien shock absorbers. They are the industry standard and needless to say they are good. They're made in Germany by guys named Horst who have no sense of humor. Expect high quality and don't settle for a replacement.

Pros
  • great for me
Cons
  • some problems

JK Power Shot

JK Power Shot could be selected. Installed them on a fully stock JKU to replace the old 80,000 mile shocks. They drive much better than jeeps even when they were new. No more freeway hopping and crazy rocking back and forth on rough driveways/driveways. The reason I took the sprocket off is because one of the shocks didn't come with the hardware kit so I had to reuse the stock hardware, no big deal. Contract is just annoying.

Pros
  • Hands-Free Operation
Cons
  • Newer Model

Close but not quite.

Absolutely great dampers and easy to install. I know this because I installed one and then uninstalled it. The only reason for 3 stars is that I ordered a kit and had 2 different shocks in one box. I tried to find another matching pair but couldn't so had to send them back and buy another set from a local supplier to reassemble my jeep. Disappointment. Nothing against the product, just a process that caught 2 different part numbers.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • lots of stuff

Are Bilsteins really worth it? Or save on a cheaper brand?

Shock absorbers on my 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sport the day after arrival. only on the highway and in the city. I could tell that the previous shocks lost their cushioning ability because I could push them down about halfway and they would slowly come back up and also hit small bumps in the road which created an earthquake feeling. After using the Bilsteins I haven't noticed much of an improvement. $200 isn't that much, I'll put it off and put up with it until I buy another brand.

Pros
  • Heavy duty finish
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

2017 Bilstein Shock Upgrades JKU

These shocks have just been installed by a pro as have several upgrades together (shocks, springs and arms). Driven about 100 miles so far, mostly on the road to make sure there are no traction, under/oversteer issues. Overall, the on-road ride is smoother and without the noticeable jump that I experienced with the stock parts. Tougher on dirt roads with lots of tightly spaced potholes, but that's to be expected from any suspension system. Installing the shock absorber with the car raised took…

Pros
  • Lasting Test Results
Cons
  • Disappear

Save the old rubber pads or cut out new ones.

As previously mentioned, the bumper rubber washers that come with the car are too thick to use on their own. They can be cut to thinner widths with a sharp utility knife or hacksaw if desired. The shocks themselves offer a decent ride, not too stiff at all. If "hardness" is what you're looking for, an adjustable shock might be the way to go. My jeep's previous owner had it installed when I bought the car. There was a shock. So I exchanged both. There was no noticeable improvement in smoothness.

Pros
  • Top ratings for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Negative impression

Big shock, confusing instructions.

Excellent dampers. Replaced standard shock absorbers with a run of 100,000. Installation was pretty easy. Don't read the instructions completely. They are written by aliens. The aliens try to speak German. If you have basic mechanical skills, all you need is a page in the manual that shows you how to align the metal washers and rubber bushings depending on the type of shock absorber (typ.). The "type" should be visible on the shock absorber label itself. I think it was Type 4. I adjusted the…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
