I've been a big fan of fel pro products for over 25 years. I replaced the intake gasket on my 02 Malibu at about 70k. I drove another 110,000 and the intake gasket failed again. The OEM gasket and the first Fel Pro gasket both had a fabric cage that split and crumbled on both gaskets, allowing water to enter the oil pan. This seal consists of a metal frame. I think if the OEM and first set of Fel Pro pads were made with a metal frame, they wouldn't fall off as quickly, even if the Fel Pro lasted longer than the OEM. Fel-Pro has improved its product.
