I live in a high crime town where neighbors warn each other that thieves will steal EVERYTHING that isn't locked. to your motorcycle or bicycle. After I've spent the money I've earned on my bike, I want to make sure it's where I left it in the morning, and this bulky chain and U-lock padlock will do the job — and as a visual Deterrent - one look and a potential thief will miss finding a less secure bike and as a physical deterrent - as the chain is long enough to attach your bike to a stationary object. The lock itself is as heavy as you want it to be to make it work and the U-lock shackle is solid and well designed with a sliding key cover to keep rain from getting in and the lock from sticking together, a problem I've had with other U-locks , where I do not have such a cover.
