Review on Kraft Cover Blank Paper Sketch by Barbara Simmons

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Thin pages, open spine but still useful

At first I thought I'd buy it as a mixed media sketchbook as the title says 350gsm. Do not be fooled! They're referring to the cover of the sketchbook, not its pages (I mean, who does that?! As if anyone cares what the cover looks like). The pages are quite thin, they can't even take a thin stroke of watercolor without warping, although a regular brush won't show through, you can see the outline of the drawing from the previous page (you know those books with paper so thin you can't the letters can be seen from the opposite side when reading one side.) In the photo they took it looked like there was some sort of mountain ash on the back - there isn't. It's hard to draw with the cover, and when taking a picture, the spine of the book isn't even covered BUT I had this problem: If I buy a good sketchbook, I'm too afraid to screw it up even if I can only use one side of the page , there are so many I'll last forever It's become my place to practice ruining everything and letting go I don't care if something isn't perfect This sketchbook is a place for me to work, learn and make mistakes make. So once you know what it is and how it works, you can decide based on your needs.
