Review on Sony High Speed Ethernet HeroFiber Cleaning by Luca Washington

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Well it was better than the previous game

I bought this to replace a Sony BDPS6500 (replacing a Samsung that didn't work right away) which I bought 3 weeks ago and didn't not even a month. This lasted 14 months, so it was a definite step forward. Upon purchase, they replaced the 12-year-old Sony that eventually stopped playing. Sony, what happened to this quality? While it worked, picture quality was decent, and DVD upscaling gave good, crisp playback. 14 months later and it CANNOT read discs of any kind. It stopped reading BluRay discs a few months ago, but I wasn't too concerned since most of my collection are DVDs, it hasn't read anything for a few days. I've tried using a head cleaner which is basically a CD and it doesn't see it. Tries to play other discs and again doesn't see them. I also tried several other formats and got nothing. I did the last update and it didn't help. I've done a hard reset several times and again no joy. I get the same error in all cases. "no disk". It still works with online applications. The remote control is sometimes simple and functional. About six months ago I had to bang it on a hard surface from time to time, to make it work. A little annoying, but not that important. If you're looking for a disposable player, this one is pretty good as long as it lasts. As for me, I will lay my relationship with Sony on hold. I just ordered an LG and we'll see how it goes.
