Review on πŸ”’ Satin Nickel Amazon Basics Single Cylinder Deadbolt by Robert Maysey

I wouldn't trust this closet.

Having never changed locks before I figured I'd save a few bucks and grab this one. The TLDR is: Get a reputable brand. Everything in it is made cheaply and easily broken with the help of the most elementary master key. The switches and pins are almost the same, the metal is very cheap, and the mechanics are as cool as can be. At first I thought it was my door or I just messed up the installation but I took it off the door and put it back together and it's a lock. .It grinds, has a lot of backlash with a key and a turn, and overall just ah. Please do not trust your home with this lock. It's also a nightmare for automatic/smart locking systems like the August 4th gen I tried. I don't like it because of the backlash when turning and the resistance when lapping the bolt. Maybe I got a lemon, well I bought 2! Hooray. The other is exactly the same. Lessons learned. I don't understand how there are so many positive reviews. Maybe the numbers are full. Do not trust this device in your home. Do not install this on an outside door. I'm going to use a Yale or something similar that has more than a thin piece of metal turning the bolt. This is the flat part while the prettier ones have hefty cubes.
