Dongle requires USB power, requires LOS and only works at 30ft

Has what I needed but. come on guys 2.4GHz would be better. Do you need an external line? Infrared? Fur. The dongle also requires power (I know this is inevitable) but unfortunately I had to run a cable from the USB to wall outlet adapter to the dongle. So now I have some cables to get rid of the cable. Why not Bluetooth or NFS? I do not know. I bought it because my sofa is far from my TV and I don't want to run a cable to my sofa to connect certain devices that require HDMI. Luckily my device has a low enough resolution so it was a good buy. Unfortunately, my device's USB port doesn't provide enough power to run the key, so I had to use a 10-foot USB extension cable to run it from the wall to the key. Also, the dongle comes with this L-shaped HDMI connector. that's 90 degrees. You need it to support the key in a way that promotes better transmission. Unfortunately, the top of the console, which is surrounded by a bezel, isn't fully cleaned, so it definitely overwhelms the HDMI port, L-shaped adapter, and dongle chassis. <g> Maybe I could take ANOTHER cable and route it away from the console. Since it's LOS I can't mount the device in my console (which can easily be modified this way). Anyway, HDMI 1080p is a thing of the past, just like 320x240 used to be. Hopefully the next generation of these devices will use NFS or Bluetooth (but Bluetooth tends to suck) or 2.4GHz or Wi-Fi or SOMETHING OTHER THAN LOS INFRARED.

Pros
  • Compact, low profile design makes it ideal for laptops and works with any HDMI video device
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
