I bought another one to replace it. This is a quality coffee grinder with a stainless steel burr, which I'm talking about for good reason. The enemy of all these home grinders is static. You grind and then pull the tank out and the little bits stick to everything and make a mess everywhere. So, here's how to use this coffee grinder. Assuming you don't grind every 5 minutes in a professional barista environment. as many grains as you will be grinding in the upper hopper. I know you will be tempted to fill this sucker. Do not do that. Find out how many grains to grind for what you want to brew. Second, add a drop or two of water to the grains - 2 drops per tablespoon or so of grain. It doesn't have to be perfect. And yes, I said water the beans. That's why you only put the essentials in it and value a stainless steel grinder - no rust. And don't worry, your grist won't get wet. Third, adjust the grind setting (number of cups) to a few more cups than you would like to empty the entire hopper. let it break Fourth - hit the side of the tank or two to make all the bases fall down, pull it out and use the bases. That's all. There will still be some noise, but the explosion of small particles on the counter, your hands, and everywhere else will be minimal, if any. I am happy with the coffee grinder and the quality for the price is second to none.
