Review on ✈️ ASA CX-3 Flight Computer: Your Ultimate Aviation Navigation Tool by Joe Nieves

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better than the Sporties E6B.

I bought an E6B from Sportie and found it clunky, the buttons reminded me of one of those cheap calculators you buy at Walmart. The ASA buttons are one-piece and therefore one-piece. The features are very easy to set up and the flight planning section is very easy to use. The only thing I would caution the prospective student to do is make sure you know what radius you are using for the outbound (hold) course. Sometimes test questions tell you about the incoming radial and not the outgoing radial, so you need to enter the opposite value. Luckily, this calculator includes reciprocal radials as one of its features! This is a well-designed calculator designed for pilots. It can also be used in FAA trials, eliminating the need to reuse the main wheel. As a new student I would recommend learning on the whistle wheel, you get a better idea of how the relationship between DA and airspeed works that you can't see on a calculator. My only complaint is that the battery life is a bit slower than a traditional calculator, but that's really the only negative I can say about it. The insert that came with the calculator is a good starting point to familiarize yourself with the functions. Would buy again just to calculate the ascent/descent for non-standard descents.

Pros
