I'm a retired computer scientist, so I'm familiar with hardware and software. I installed a refurbished Dell computer; bought a new mouse, keyboard, monitor and cable. This Displayport to HDMI cable was a new purchase from Revain. Shortly after installation I noticed that the monitor would flicker randomly for a second or two and then turn back on. The randomness and frequency of this blinking rendered the PC inoperable. I've reinstalled the latest graphics drivers, rolled back to previous drivers, ran the Dell system diagnostics, checked logs, started Windows 10 in safe mode, swapped monitors with another computer, reinstalled graphics card in the slot, nothing fixed the issue. Only one option remained to try - replacing this cable with another. I bought an Office Depot Ativa DisplayPort to HDMI cable for $26.39 - problem solved! This cable is either defective or does not meet the minimum requirements for normal PC use. I suggest avoiding this cable and spending the extra money on a higher quality cable.
