Works as described/intended, does NOT work as HDMI -> DisplayPort

cable works as described but note that it is unidirectional. It works with DisplayPort as output and HDMI as input. It's also described that way, but my intended use case was the opposite. I've never heard of one-way digital video transmission, but that seems to be the case. I have verified that this works fine from a Dell Dock (DisplayPort) to a Dell 4K display (via the HDMI input). Using DisplayPort input on a monitor and HDMI output on a laptop did NOT work. I'm not deducting stars from the…

Faulty cable or insufficient power.

I'm a retired computer scientist, so I'm familiar with hardware and software. I installed a refurbished Dell computer; bought a new mouse, keyboard, monitor and cable. This Displayport to HDMI cable was a new purchase from Revain. Shortly after installation I noticed that the monitor would flicker randomly for a second or two and then turn back on. It is well made and works.

In short, it's a cable. It looks well made and works, which is all you'd expect from a cable, hence the five stars. For context, I used this cable to replace a combination HDMI cable and DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. to connect my computer's DisplayPort video output to my LED monitor's HDMI input.
