I have other Vortex products including other heaters. I bought this for a small room that is rarely used so the ventilation of the house is closed. That works great! When used correctly (ie not for large areas, not for drafty rooms; not intended as a hair dryer heater) it keeps the heat in the entire room, not just where it is directed; Think of a small portable heatsink. I think the photos are a bit misleading as they show this in spaces that I think are WAY large to use effectively. I especially like the timer; If I leave the room and am not sure if/when I will come back, I can be sure that the timer will go off and no energy will be wasted. If you have a large room you might need a little more. But for small spaces (in my case a 10 x 14 bedroom converted into an office) it works great!
