My AC thermostat is as old as the world, the only problem with it is that the temperature increase and decrease buttons just wouldn't work every Times. I installed one of those "dots" on the board where the buttons made contact and now it's like new! These dots don't stick to the carbon-rubber buttons, they stick to the circuit board, they "hang" on an adhesive backing sheet, and when you press the button, the dots are also pressed against the circuit. You use sharp scissors to cut out a small square around the new point, then peel off the backing and stick it where you need it. 100% efficiency!
