Received my vacuum pump today and straight out of the box if I clogged the line it would not vacuum or pressure hold and slowly lick down. As I was contemplating returning, I had an idea. I filled the sink with water, squeezed as hard as I could, and quickly doused it before it lost pressure again. Then a group of bubbles came out of the pipe thread where the pressure gauge is screwed into the pump. Then I unscrewed the pressure gauge and found that there was no teflon tape or sealant in it. I wrapped 2 turns of teflon tape with some teflon sealant and screwed in 1 full turn past where it started. It works great after that, but I didn't have to do it with a new pump. If you decide to do this and are having the same problem, I would recommend pressurizing it rather than suctioning it as you submerge it so you don't suck water in and potentially void your warranty and cause problems since it's now full of water. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for that.
