Sponge worked very well. Not sure how long this will take, so that's the unfortunate part, but I used it on epoxy clay, which is notoriously difficult to smooth out. It's not perfect, but that's the nature of clay, not sponge. The sponge did NOT stay dirty as I thought it would be a big problem as it is white and most of the clays are grey. Even the epoxy came out after just gently and slightly pushing the clay away from the center. It seemed to magically move to the edges and then wash out. It stays pristine white and after the last wash I squeezed out as much water as I could. Now it's almost as flat as it was and just as hard. It's a good tool, we'll see how long it lasts, but so far it's been worth it!
