Review on Triplett Line Bug Phone Line Tester by John Ghattamaraju

This is a great phone line tester - I wanted something basic to check the polarity of an RJ-11 jack. This device tests the ringer AC current, polarity and voltage on the line. The device works great. The LAN check is a bit strange. No light good Any light bad - It worked just fine on my Power Over Ethernet LAN port that I use for my wireless access point because it showed no light - You need to switch 568A and check again by going to USOC if it's not all working yet your lan backlight can be used as it has no phone power. There is no guarantee that the LAN port will be good for data transfer - I want it to show green for 'Good' - or have a test switch that shows all LEDs are lit so you know the device is working is not defective and neither lights off - For checking the phone, ideal for checking the local network - I would refuse to buy it. So five stars for the telephone tester and one star for the LAN tester - hence the 3 stars in the test.
