Speed test with two Windows PCs directly connected with a Cat6 crossover cable

I bought two of these adapters and DIRECTLY connected two Windows 10 PCs to each other with a Cat6 crossover cable. Both adapters were plugged into USB 3 ports. Here are the results of various speed tests between computers: A RAM disk was allocated on both computers to mitigate any hard drive read/write slowdowns. Transferring a 500MB file: PC1 -> PC2 125MB/s = 1000Mbps PC2 -> PC1 170MB/s = 1368Mbps with LAN speed test. I downloaded the LAN speed test and installed the client on PC2 and the LST server on PC1. The LAN speed test uses TCP. Tested with 500MB package: Write = 384.5Mbps Read = 460.7Mbps Downloaded and installed IPerf3 on both machines. The server was running on PC1 and the client on PC2: TCP test with a 3GB packet: Send = 1.67 Gbps. Receive = 1.67 Gbps. UDP test with 3G packet. Tests but none of them exceeded 2 Gb/s. I replaced the Blue Jeans Cable Cat6 with similar results. During testing, the adapters felt slightly warm, but not hot. Next I will try to connect these adapters to the ASUS RT-AX89X router. This router has two 10Gbps ports and I'm hoping to get more than 2Gbps when computers are connected through this router.

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • I won't say anything
