Description of 💻 High-Speed USB C and USB to Ethernet Adapter | 2-in-1 | Compatible with USB C/Thunderbolt 3 or USB 3.0 | USB-C to RJ45 2.5 Gigabit LAN for Mac and Windows

Faster Than Gigabit - Double the performance of a traditional Gigabit Ethernet adapter when used with switches or routers capable of 2.5Gbps for faster file transfers, smoother video conferencing, and seamless streaming. Keep USB Universal - Hybrid 2-in-1 cable converts from USB-C to USB-A so you always have the right connection (USB 3.0 required for full performance). Use Existing Cabling - Upgrade your network without updating your cables. 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet signals are designed to work on Cat 5e cabling, just pair your USB Ethernet Adapter with 2.5Gbps-capable switches/routers. OS Compatibility - Works with Windows 10, 8.x, and 7, macOS 10.7 and above, and Linux Kernel 3.2 and above. Driver download and install may be required on older OS and Kernel versions. Some core features require driver install on macOS. 2 Year Warranty - We love our Plugable products, and hope you will too. All of our products are backed with a 2-year limited parts and labor warranty as well as Seattle-based email support.

It works as advertised!

I use this with my QNap switch with 2.5GbE ports and my M1 MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur. Although some applications that test network connectivity report that it only works at 1 gigabit, I can confirm Pluggable's words that they do indeed work at 2.5 gigabits. For the price, functionality can't be beat. I would buy it again, except my new NAS has a 10GbE connection, so I'm upgrading to 10GbE (SFP+) and Pluggable doesn't have either (yet?). So I get a QNap model.

  • Rugged build

Works great with Synology 218+

I installed this on my Synology 218+ to speed it up with the rest of the network. I have a couple of computers with a built-in 2.5Gbps port and several Unifi switches with 2.5Gbps and 10Gbps ports. After manually installing the driver on the 218+ and configuring the adapter everything worked. I don't understand some people's problems. This thing works on both my NAS laptop and Windows. Mine doesn't overheat. I copied 2TB of data at once and the speed never dropped below 240MB/s (2400Mbps) but…

Agree with other reviewers but I seem to understand

This device was unable to deliver the speeds above 1Gb/s that I was able to achieve with my 1GbE USB3 adapters. I have a Celeron quad core laptop that gets CPU spikes when using this thing. Windows reported a 2.5G connection, but I've never been able to get better performance than my 1GbE adapter. The product seems durable and I don't think it gets very hot. My multi gigabit switch runs way hotter than this one. I think I would have the same problem with any other USB 3 to 1+GbE adapter without

Works perfectly, like competitor models at half the price

I've had no trouble getting this adapter to work with a MacBook Pro. It gets very hot, but I didn't see a negative result even after 30 minutes of full throttle. The ability to have both USB-A and C is a plus if you need it. Not me. But here's the thing. I bought this unit at half price along with a competing 2.5G UGreen unit to test both. Aside from the lack of an activity indicator, UGreen is just as good functionally. I have a few other people with MacBook Pros - they won't get this one. One

Works but stalls after overheating.

Works but slows down after overheating. Runs at almost a full 2.5 Gbps for a few minutes. It gets hot after 4-5 minutes but works all day. The maximum speed I could squeeze out for about 5 minutes was 2.3 Gbps, but then dropped to about 1.3 Gbps. After it's had time to cool down, if you set the maximum connection again, it'll run at 2.3Gbps, but will slow down again when it gets too hot. For most nerds, this works great for quick file transfers. Note, however, that the speed will drop to around

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

I bought two of these adapters and DIRECTLY connected two Windows 10 PCs to each other with a Cat6 crossover cable. Both adapters were plugged into USB 3 ports. Here are the results of various speed tests between computers: A RAM disk was allocated on both computers to mitigate any hard drive read/write slowdowns. Transferring a 500MB file: PC1 -> PC2 125MB/s = 1000Mbps PC2 -> PC1 170MB/s = 1368Mbps with LAN speed test. I downloaded the LAN speed test and installed the client on PC2 and…

Halves my internet speed

I bought this ethernet adapter as a "backup" for another adapter I've been using for several years. It's seen some wear and tear over the years and I figured I should go ahead and be ready with a new adapter from a reputable brand when the old one fails. With my old adapter I get 950MB/s. up down. Thanks to the plug-in adapter, I was lucky enough to get over 300 MB/s. I downloaded the drivers from their website and tested the USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt 3 ports. I've used Cat5e, Cat6 and even Cat7…

Pros
  • OS Compatible – Works with Windows 10, 8.x and 7, macOS 10.7 and later and Linux kernel 3.2 and later. For older OS and kernel versions, you may need to download and install the driver. Some basic features require driver installation on macOS

  • Not as thick as other options

Works as a USB modem on Asus AX86U

to see if it works as a USB modem on my Asus AX86U. Would create a 2.5GB WAN and then I could use the existing 2.5GB port for my LAN. Went like clockwork. plug and play The RTL8156B chipset is quickly recognized. Then configure the router to use USB tethering, set it as the primary and booming 2.5 Gigabit WAN port. The only thing to note is if the device is configured as a 100Mbps connection, change the orientation of the USB-C adapter. After a few weeks of use it went back to USB 2.0 speeds…
