I bought this ethernet adapter as a "backup" for another adapter I've been using for several years. It's seen some wear and tear over the years and I figured I should go ahead and be ready with a new adapter from a reputable brand when the old one fails. With my old adapter I get 950MB/s. up down. Thanks to the plug-in adapter, I was lucky enough to get over 300 MB/s. I downloaded the drivers from their website and tested the USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt 3 ports. I've used Cat5e, Cat6 and even Cat7 cables and they all give the same result. I also tested on a Windows PC and a 2016 MacBook Pro. When using this adapter, my internet speed is relatively terrible regardless of the settings. I strongly recommend you stay away from it. I'm not sure if I was just unlucky, or the product is a scam, or just missing something, but either way if you want top speed stay away.
