This device was unable to deliver the speeds above 1Gb/s that I was able to achieve with my 1GbE USB3 adapters. I have a Celeron quad core laptop that gets CPU spikes when using this thing. Windows reported a 2.5G connection, but I've never been able to get better performance than my 1GbE adapter. The product seems durable and I don't think it gets very hot. My multi gigabit switch runs way hotter than this one. I think I would have the same problem with any other USB 3 to 1+GbE adapter without buying a new faster laptop. I can't currently invest in a new laptop so I had to return it. I will look for this product in the future after upgrading my laptop.
