Won't hold a charge

Got the battery. Easy to install. Had about 70% charge according to battery meter. Charged to 100% shut down laptop put it in closet. Pulled it out the other day. Hit power button. Crickets. It wouldn't turn on. Plugged it in for two days still nothing. Took battery out of another lap top put in mine started up. Put new dead battery into that laptop I just took other battery out of and now it wouldn't start. Put multi meter on battery after plugged in two days. Dead
