This product does NOT suck!

Now that I have your attention, this product has almost no suction at all. I have had this product for less than 3 hours and now it has fallen off multiple surfaces 4 times. I have tried this product on glass, stainless steel and 2 different types of tiled surfaces and thoroughly cleaned and dried the area prior to installation. I probably should have learned my lesson after hearing it crash to the ground the first two or three times, but I was determined to make it work. The instructions provided describe the suction cups as "spirited" - you would think if I paid $34 for a watch they would at least provide "reliable" suction cups. The instructions claim their suction cups are "ineffective" on tile. and work better in dry conditions, but that's just not the case and I'm happy to explain why. The working surface of the suction cup is made of an elastic flexible material and has a curved surface. When the center of the suction cup is pressed against a flat, non-porous surface, the volume of space between the suction cup and the flat surface is reduced, forcing air or water out between the suction cup and the surface. rim of a round cup. The cavity that forms between the cup and the flat surface contains little to no air or water, as most of the liquid has already exited the cup's interior, causing a lack of pressure. The pressure difference between the atmosphere outside the cup and the low pressure cavity inside the cup keeps the cup sticking to the surface. When the user releases physical pressure on the outside of the bowl, the elastic substance that makes up the bowl tends to regain its original curved shape. How long the suction can last depends largely on how long it takes for the air or water to seep back into the cavity between the cup and the surface and equalize the pressure with the surrounding atmosphere. This depends on the porosity and flatness of the surface and the nature of the teat edge. TL; DR - The cohesive properties of water help create a more even seal around the rim of the suction cup and fill any gaps in the suction cup. two surfaces and assistance in maintaining the vacuum. One of the main issues here, aside from using cheap components, is that the suction cups used in this product have almost no concavity or rigidity. This product is a prime example that quantity does not equal quality. Yes, there are 4 suction cups and this theoretically allows for better weight distribution over a larger area. In practice, however, this is simply not enough to compensate for the quality of the component used. Enough cons! The brushed aluminum frame is beautiful and has survived 4 very nasty falls with just a few scuffs to show - not even a dent! The screen seems to have withstood falls very well and remains sharp and legible, which I can't comment on the internals as I now hear a lot of rattling from soldered components that broke loose when dropped. The display was very easy to set up and I really like that it shows the day of the week.

Pros
  • Calendar with date and month display mm/dd or dd/mm switchable. Day of the week 3-character display.
Cons
  • Long delivery time
