Now I split the second board with these wedges. Board number one is about five feet long and 27" high. Slab number two was over six feet long and about a foot high. Both were about three inches thick. Both stones had the results exactly as expected. If I had something to criticize, the wedges are not very precise and technically inaccurate for this application. Of the two sets (14 shims), the thickness varies from shim to shim by up to 1/8". In order to crush rock, the pressure exerted by the shim must be the same along the entire length of the shim with the force being applied evenly over the entire length of the drilled hole.Pretty much all the gaskets I've received have concave surfaces. As the wedge is pressed into the V, it has really only contact at two points per seal, not the full length of the seal. This is normal on large rocks where detail is negligible. If the stones were thinner, this could cause cracking at the pressure point.
