Poor fit and finish

I decided to give it a try as it is made of good steel and is 60% cheaper. At first the brass insert is raised in the handle, but I managed to smooth it down with a flat file and Scotch Brite. The joint was also uneven so I sanded it and made a little chamfer on the edge. The black part of the blade appears to be black paint so I removed it using Scotch Brite conditioning tape on a 1X42 belt sander. I sanded and polished the edge so it's pretty sharp now. is heavily tarnished, almost like regular carbon steel. The batches of steel from China seem to be very different, so this one probably has less chromium in the mix. Maybe that's normal for a twenty dollar knife.
