The pump cover had a long tear - the item box was crushed in one corner, not sure if that was the cause? When I tried to carefully remove it, I found that it broke through, causing it to separate into 2 pieces. The lid was very flimsy and flimsy compared to the original pump I had with the PetMate stainless steel fountain and I've cleaned hundreds of times without flexing the lid like this pump does. I can't even imagine this one lasting. Just a replacement for the original as where the power cable connected to the pump the cable cover was cracked and hardened from being heavily bent over the past few years. I don't want to connect to a bare internal wire. But I think I'll try the more expensive part of the product and hope it's stronger than the original.
