I've never had so many problems replacing an air filter before. Went into place normally but the lid was not put on. After wrestling with it for about five minutes, I pulled it back and compared it to the regular filter. Sure enough, the foam on this one is about 1/4 inch thicker. That may not be a problem on a sunny summer's day when foam and plastic are happy to bend to your will. 22 degrees and ice, that's not good. I cut the foam a little and then everything was fine. There's still more foam than the stock filter, so I'm not too worried about the seal. I like the metal grille there. I've had that. A mouse has chewed through the air filter once or twice, and the presence of this mesh can prevent a lot of those chewed bits from getting into the engine.
