This filter system is designed to improve aesthetics. This actually means that some salts/solids and chlorine are removed from the water. It won't help the bacteria much. It's basically the same as what you get out of a jug of clean water. But if you replace the cartridge with a 70001 filter, it looks like you can use the same system for even cleaner water. This is a major upgrade to the pitcher filter. No more and no less. Took me about an hour to install it under the sink in the kitchen. No suitable connector is supplied for connection to a dedicated drinking water tap although this is the recommended installation. I couldn't find this T-connector in the hardware store either. So it's plugged right into my baby's water line at the kitchen sink. However, there is no significant loss of water pressure. This is a reliable product.
