Although I have not personally owned any previous iHome products, many brothers, sisters, friends and co-workers have allowed me to try them out and ultimately motivated me to buy. I've had it for a while now and here's what I can definitely say about it. It has some great features: - The alarm options are excellent. There are multiple options from the type of alarm sound to the interval schedule (weekdays / weekends / whole week). - The sound is very good. Not only does it deliver good volume for the size of this product, it also delivers really great clarity. The time setting options are incredibly awesome. You set the time with 1 button and thus synchronize the time of your iPod/iPhone. Maximum 2 seconds. - This is the first sound of an alarm clock that doesn't bother me but wakes me up anyway. However, it also has some features: - It is not intuitive. General. I'm a very tech savvy person and had to skim the manual to figure out most of the basic operations besides turning it on and off. Something most people can do without in other products without a manual - The 'sleep' setting has an independent volume setting, so if you turn it on one night when the fan was running, and no other noise the next night too there is a feeling that your eardrums will burst when you put it to sleep mode. I don't understand why it doesn't just take the current volume setting and decrease the volume over time from that point, rather than using an independently determined maximum volume. The keys are ridiculously loud. Using the remote to adjust anything is fine, but the buttons on the device itself make a very dull plastic click-clock noise when pressed. Aside from looking and sounding cheap, it's also enough to disturb someone who might be sleeping while you're trying to set things up. Also, it's annoying to do all the repetitive button presses. *click clock* *click clock* *click clock* *click clock* *pulling hair* So overall this seems like a pretty great product, but it still has room to grow. At the current price of $100, there are serious reasons to be dissatisfied. The processing could be better and the interface and operation could be more perfect. However, I have to say that this is the best alarm clock I have ever had. so 4/5 stars.
