I like this item because you get two good fittings for less than you would pay for them individually. I often use aluminum mounting brackets in a variety of ways. They are of good quality. The elastic hairpin is an excellent base for fiberglass whips. For my final application, I placed a heavy 5-foot Firestik on top of the gum. The rubber strap works great but this antenna is quite heavy and the aluminum mount buckled a little under heavy loads when I was comfortable in the jeep which has always been used off-road. A lighter whip, even a 1.5m whip, will work great with the included aluminum bracket. This is a really good article.
