We bought this product a while back in November 2014 as a 'Christmas present' for our parrot and he is still in his cage as of January 2016 that year. ! He is durable and also acts as a "privacy screen" on his cage that he loves. Although parrots are "tame" animals, they are genetically very wild and used in part for solitude, which is why some parrot species burrow into burrows or trees. Some species of parrots require a certain amount of "dark time" or "solitary time", which means they can mimic entering and exiting their "den" or tree hole during the day, and this toy provides good privacy . When our birdie cries we know she wants to be protected so we cover her cage with light dark blankets that let air through and she is happy but this toy is a good half way cage divider for easy privacy (was good as a toy).
