If you just want a quick look at small "things" without much preparation, this little microscope is paired with a good manual 7x lens (a Hastings trio that cost many times more than this"Scope"!) That's pretty much all you need - magnification over 60x is often not very convenient to use with such a small scope in the field or even at your "laboratory" table or desk . I have many microscopes, including classic binocular compound models like the Nikon S-Ke and Bausch&Lomb Dynazoom, as well as stereo zoom microscopes like the Meiji EMZ-5 and the smaller Olympus 10-20x and 20-40x models, which have superior optics. Well this little microscope doesn't quite belong in that class, but for the price it's a great little tool that produces some pretty good images. The resolution is sufficient, but due to the long working distance and the low numerical aperture (NA) it quickly reaches the diffraction limit with increasing magnification. However, for its low cost, small size, portability and ease of use, this is a good buy and I would buy it again.
