Perfect! for microscopes

I don't usually write reviews for cheap stuff, but this microscope deserves credit. If you're looking for something to study trichomes to determine when to harvest, look no further. I bought a jewelry loop which upset me a lot. It's almost impossible to see anything clearly. I ventured into this microscope because it has an aspheric lens and was pleasantly surprised. At first I thought something was wrong because I couldn't see anything. Then I realized that I have to push it against the leaves

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Modern

All the handheld microscopes I've tried were barely up to the task Insufficient lighting for a good view of the sample and cheap plastic optics. With this device, the light is positioned in such a way that the sample is NOT ILLUMINATED when switched on. You have to manually hold the scope over the object while trying to keep it steady enough to focus through the cheap plastic optics. NOT suitable for children. Take a look at Carson MicroBrite 20x-40x for kids. The light is placed much better…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

Good price and useful magnification range

If you just want a quick look at small "things" without much preparation, this little microscope is paired with a good manual 7x lens (a Hastings trio that cost many times more than this"Scope"!) That's pretty much all you need - magnification over 60x is often not very convenient to use with such a small scope in the field or even at your "laboratory" table or desk . I have many microscopes, including classic binocular compound models like the Nikon S-Ke and Bausch&Lomb Dynazoom, as well as…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • New Competitors Arrive

The best of Carson's small microscopes.

I didn't originally plan to test multiple Carson scopes, but I did. I left out two of the three I tried and this is my favorite so far. The more powerful was, uh, more powerful, but the downside was that even at the lowest magnification, the magnification was so great that it was difficult to find that tiny thing you wanted to look at. In this case the low 20x magnification is ideal for finding small items you want to look at and once you've found them you can zoom in up to 60x. And 60x…

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Available in white only

What you see is a reflection of what you are looking at.

I bought this for my wife who buys and sells antique silver jewellery. She needs a good magnifying glass to study the stamps and signatures. I am very good at using this microscope, although I have to agree that it is very sensitive, even at full magnification, to keep the object in view. And since you're actually seeing a mirror image of the part you're looking at, you need to take that into account when making adjustments to the part you're looking at. Even the slightest movement of a piece…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Some difficulties

A larger lens would fit in your pocket!

I read many reviews to find out what microscope magnification is right for my purposes and people's answers were correct: 20x to 60x. I also read some reviews about this microscope not working and the reviewers "saw nothing", but there were enough counterarguments to convince me to buy the Carson PocketMicro 20x-60x. I can add to those who claim it works. The most difficult part is pointing the microscope at the object and focusing it. When I put the microscope in the center where I suspected…

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • poorly thought out
