The recommended software is useless

The software documented on the device is called PotPlayer. When recording (it's the only function I've used) it would skip, freeze and generally not handle the recording well. I switched to OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software®️) Open Source. It does the job a lot better. OBS creates large files when writing in lossless mode, but this can be fixed with HandBrake (also open source), an encoder that reduces file size.
