This mic is pretty good. It's directional as expected from a cardioid sensitivity template. I only have to move about 2-3 inches for it to be loud enough. I have a fairly loud, deep voice. Given the lack of amplification, the volume knob is a decoration. I would give it five stars if it had 6dB more gain (yes I know how to adjust the settings wherever they can be adjusted in windows). If it had 15dB more gain, the volume control would make sense. For some reason it has an on/off slide switch on the back. This seems redundant at first, given the button next to the volume control that toggles the sound on and off. When used, however, it appears to only turn off the blue LEDs and doesn't affect the microphone, but the mute button works regardless of the position of that slide switch. And in any position, the LED under the mute button works (green when the sound is on and red when the sound is muted).
