After noticing the erratic behavior of the motion sensor, I took one apart (can't resist, I'm a nerd at heart). Of course, there's a tiny photocell on the side of the moving eye switch. This shouldn't come as a surprise; The cheapest moving lights only work in the dark, and the first paragraph of the product description says "Detects motion in the dark or at night". This extends battery life without wasting time in good light conditions. If you need EXTRA light under your closet, this may not work for you (unless you do electronic surgery and glue the photocell like me). It would be easier if it came with a "day setting" or a small hole to hit the photocell, but it's inside under a cover next to the motion sensor.
