Didn't do it for me

The features of this router should have made it a force to be reckoned with. Wi-Fi 6 plus MIMO and the ability to support up to 200 devices make this router everything you need to connect many Wi-Fi enabled devices to your home network without the hassles or interference from increased traffic. Setting up the router worked for me without too many problems. I've used the app and I should mention that I've used it with iOS. I saw that there were issues with the Android app (which should have been fixed by the time this review was published). You download the app, create an account, sign in, and then you can add the router to your account and set it up. The only problem I had with this router during setup was that even after I enabled bridge mode on my gateway and then connected it to this router and turned it on, the router didn't see a connection to my gateway. Restarting the gateway and then the router solved the problem. I should mention that I've used Cox's Panoramic Gateway before. I've never had many issues with this device, but this seemed like the best choice since I've connected so many different devices to Wi-Fi. I also pay for gigabit internet so I have great speeds on all my devices. I was very excited to try this router because of the Wi-Fi 6 support. After the setup was complete, I set up my network and connected everything with no issues. Then came the speed test. I usually get around 500+ Mbps on my new devices. With this router I was down to 94Mbps even on Wifi 6 devices which surprised me a bit as it is very low. I thought it might be a glitch so I moved the unit to a different location with less traffic. Same result. I figured it might be a very busy time of day so I waited until about 2am and then tried again. No, still only 94 Mbit/s. I waited until the next day. The results were the same. I was very disappointed at the time, but maybe I mistakenly included something that measures connections. I went into settings and QoS is not enabled. I then removed the router, disabled bridge mode on my gateway and restarted my old network. All issues have been resolved. I returned to normal speed. Do you call that MIMO? If so, then this router is a joke. In fact, it severely impacted my network performance across all my devices. What a disappointment. I would not recommend this router to anyone. Worse speed, worse performance and nothing as promised.

Pros
  • understandable even for the old man
Cons
  • nothing here
