A useful product with a small design issue

This is a niche product for Tesla Model S and X owners that makes central storage more useful. It fits easily into the open center console and can be removed just as easily. This has the advantage that you can stow less used or larger items in the more spacious area of the center console below this insert. When you need to access items from the room beneath the insert, it only takes a few minutes to remove that insert so you can get to what you need, and then just a minute to put it back. Before I bought this insert I had a similar insert with built in cordless phone charger. I liked it for a while but found it too shallow (didn't fit my Oakley sunglasses with the storage lid closed for example) nor did it maximize usable length as it was short and only the end of the visible opening reached the open storage console . This product is better designed in that regard, allowing the tray to be placed much lower in the console, giving a lot more usable space. It is also designed to accommodate outside of the console's visible open area and extends under the console's stowed storage lid. I should also mention that I don't need as much space to wirelessly charge my phone in the console as I recently purchased a Tesla wireless charger (available from the Tesla online store) that fits in a smaller console. toward the rear of the larger console opening that this product insert is intended for. As for the cup holder, I've seen some reviewers say the holes are too small or that they can't hold more than one drink at a time (other than a narrow cup or soda can). This is technically correct, but actually not a product defect. The Tesla center console has limited width to accommodate additional cup holders, and I love having them there because their less-than-prominent placement often makes me spill drinks in the Tesla armrests with my elbow. My favorite drink in the morning is usually a very large Dunkin Donuts coffee, which fits very nicely in this cup holder. Regardless, you can use the factory armrest cup holders for tall drinks or multiple drinks that are too wide to fit in this tray together. As for me, I'm glad to have extra cup holders. If you find they don't match the drink containers you prefer, they can still be used as storage compartments for something else. , and must allow the center console cover to be closed while leaving the cup holders open. I'd say it was a potentially good idea that just doesn't work. First, the pillars are poorly positioned, so the console lid doesn't stop closing before partially covering the cupholders. This makes the lid close easily on your drink. As a result, a paper coffee cup, for example, is easily crushed. I'm also a bit concerned that the center console lid might become damaged over time if I have to push the console lid against the spring-loaded pins to fully close it. In addition to moving those posts back so they don't get in the way of the cup holders, I think it would be better to have some sort of retractable post (rather than a spring-loaded one) that can snap (up or down) to adjust the console lid's desired closing position . In short, I think this is a very useful product for Tesla Model S or X owners that improves the usability of the factory console and is a relatively inexpensive and well-made product. I hope that my additional observations will be helpful.
