Review on πŸ–ŒοΈ Pentel Fude Brush Pen, Medium: The Perfect Tool for Expressive Brush Strokes (XFL2L) by Karla Richter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Don't pay attention to bad reviews!

I've been using this brush for 4 years now and I still love it! Still going strong. I use it daily for my work as a cartoonist and have 4-5 backups in case I lose one or forget it at a concert. Pros: 1. It's reusable 2. It has nylon bristles that will last forever if cared for properly. Unlike many foam or brush markers that wear out after a few days. It's not like this. It holds a point if cared for like a brush3. You can control the amount of ink. Hence the many negative reviews. It takes a bit of practice, but the flow is very consistent with the strength of the press. I personally press until I see ink appear in the clear chamber. It doesn't give me any clutter and will draw about 1 cartoon from start to finish! If you press too hard and ink fills the chamber, you'll end up getting too much ink. Although sometimes I do it internationally when I know I need to fill a large area with black. Control in the brush is good and it gives you that!4. I personally like the medium tip because it keeps a smaller tip and still gives me phenomenal linewidth variation. I used to use a large nib, but I couldn't draw a thin line in hot weather, causing the ink to flow too much. Wednesday is now my favorite.5. You can buy them anywhere! Some of my cartoonist friends use markers and get used to a brand, only to find out later they're being phased out. (Try to find a cone tip on the market). This technology (the brush) has been around for centuries and will continue to be the most versatile. Many different line tricks! You can draw a thin line from a single hairline to a thick thick line. You can also blow on the bristles to create splashes (see shaved head in the picture), you can use the dry brush technique to create textures like bamboo or bark. I'm sure I'll come up with new tricks in the future. Cons: 1. It takes time to learn how to use. You should use this as a brush, not a marker. If you have ever painted with watercolor, you will quickly understand. If you have never used a brush, check out YouTube.2. Put the cap back on, being careful not to bend the bristles. However, once it clicks airtight! It's inexpensive and lasts a lifetime. Beautiful lines emerge. Buy it.
