Great brush, not as black as the fine tip.

I first bought the finer version of this comic book illustration pen. It was delicious. The ink was darker black than any other brush pen I've used before. I ordered this medium, but unfortunately the ink in this pen is not that deep black. I ordered another nice one and the ink is darker. Please note that this is an ink related issue with Bristol Smooth Paper. If you use most other paper, it will be completely black. It's still a great pen, hence the four stars, but it doesn't quite meet my…

Great pen but not for textured paper.

I really like this pen but it can be annoying when using textured/heavy paper. You have to move very slowly to get a solid black line or it will look like a dry brush. Noticing the hair is a bit split on this first piece, I use it. I had to use a different pen to fill in large dark areas. Also, let it dry for at least 45 minutes before erasing the pencil lines, and pay attention to where your hand is on the paper! You'll notice the blur in the second photo. However, it is interesting to use it…

Not very good, the bristles break after a short time.

I have used this and the Pentel Portable Arts pen and the difference between them is quite big. After painting an entire page with this brush pen, the bristles started to split and I found I had to squeeze the pen a bit to get the ink to flow properly. It is not very comfortable to hold in hands, it seems soft. Pentel portable brush pen (Who makes this pen too!) The bristles NEVER chip, the ink flow is absolutely constant and it feels very good in the hand. I feel this pen is overrated because…

It was worth the wait - pens and refills

It took a month for this pen to be delivered but it was worth the wait. Any brush lover will love the beautiful strokes this pen creates; Beginners will enjoy the same thing once they get the hang of ink flow control and it's a quick lesson. The instructions are not in English, but there are pictures that are easy to understand. Simply unscrew the brush, remove the red ring, screw the brush back on and gently press the pen body to get the ink flowing. When you are finished using the pen…

Worth the insane delivery time!

I bought this on impulse because I was intrigued by the idea that sumi ink could be portable. God I'm so in love with this thing. All packaging is in Japanese, so you'll have to figure out how to use it yourself. It's basically like a fountain pen with a brush instead of a nib - you unscrew it and remove the ring, then screw it back on, which opens up the ink chamber. GENTLY press some ink onto the brush until you see the bristles change from white to black, but not quite, or I suspect you'll…

Broken, leaking "disposable " pen

Packaging was fine and everything looked fine, like previous Pentel brush pens I've used. However, during use, large drops of ink began to leak between the sections of the tip immediately after opening. This was/is a NEW pen.***If you have not used these pens before, please note that they are not fully sealed or waterproof (impervious to ink). If you're new to brush pens, you might start with the Pentel Pocket Brush.*** Nearly ALL the Fude brush pens I've used leak to some extent, if only a…

Don't pay attention to bad reviews!

I've been using this brush for 4 years now and I still love it! Still going strong. I use it daily for my work as a cartoonist and have 4-5 backups in case I lose one or forget it at a concert. Pros: 1. It's reusable 2. It has nylon bristles that will last forever if cared for properly. Unlike many foam or brush markers that wear out after a few days. It's not like this. It holds a point if cared for like a brush3. You can control the amount of ink. Hence the many negative reviews. It takes a…
