Let me start by saying that I am a big fan of StarTech and its products, both for professional and personal use. This product does what it promises. It works yes However, the main attraction of a fiber connection is the insane speeds. I'm sure it can reach those speeds until it hits a USB-A 3.0 connection with a PC/Mac and hits a bottleneck due to slow transfer times. This product would be much more practical in USB-C 3.1 and ideal for Thunderbolt 3 in SFP. We hope that StarTech will soon release a product with high fiber speed on both sides of the dongle. I'm confident they will be, they are industry leaders in innovation.
