I have a 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with a 4.6 liter 3 valve V8. When I got it (one owner used, <30,000 miles) it was bouncy and started with no problems being such a heavy, high profile car. I was very pleased. As he got older he became like an old dog, still your best friend but he can't keep up with the times like he used to. At about 85km it started having what I thought were transmission problems - going out of overdrive and not shifting at about 45mph under a light load. The funny thing is that he was still running and moving like a champ when you hit him. After digging around on the Ford forums I found that the problem was worn coils and connectors, throwing random sparks and causing the engine to shake causing the transmission to drop gears. After finding out that Motorcraft reels cost over $40 each, I looked for another solution. Accel of Cleveland, Ohio had the answer and Revain had the prize. They fit perfectly, no problems attaching or connecting the straps. The computer didn't complain and everything came back to life perfectly. (Spark plugs are another story - check out my other reviews.) The best news is that the last tank had around 14.3mpg. This tank was 17.4 mpg. At an average price of $3.50 a gallon for the 87, my payback is about 55 gallons of gas saved in less than 4,500 miles. They pay for themselves in a third of a year - it couldn't be better.
