Making floating shelves for the first time. I watched every video I could find and ordered these brackets. Used a template to center the dowels and made a mistake before we figured out how to install the brackets. There are no instructions in the box. Again, we're newbies here and maybe we should have known better, but we didn't. The brackets have two holes and look like you can mount them horizontally or vertically with holes on the bottom or top. After much discussion between husband and wife, we agreed that the best place for the holes would be at the bottom. Rookie mistake (in hindsight) as the holes should be up for stability unless you want your shelves to tilt down. Quick repair and they are absolutely beautiful. We used 2x10 pine shelves and made about 8 shelves for a hundred dollars. Much better than an old dusty bookshelf. These brackets are amazing.
