Review on ⚡ Enhanced Charging Voltage for YIHUA Soldering Station: Boosting Performance and Efficiency by Kyle Mason

Great if you're ready for a few minor tweaks.

This is my third Yihua (none failed due to manufacturing, only one and the other damaged by water at work), I love them. I use it very often (daily, in a production environment). The actual Yihua hardware isn't the best, but it's passable. The train station is much better. The rubber strain relief gizmo on the ironing cord is junk. Once tired of looking for an upgrade but it works. The temperature control features are excellent. I tested the accuracy with a Fluke thermocouple. If you want them to last you need to make some changes. The first and most important thing is to replace the motherboard's plastic mounts with real (aluminum, brass or nylon), cheap factory made, fragile plastic. Mine came with two broken ones upon delivery. Replace them and you no longer have to worry about your motherboard grounding your case. I would also recommend replacing the banana plugs and buttons with better ones as the factory ones seem very cheap. the performance works as it should and exactly. The voltmeter function is a bit clumsy. The negative terminal is not isolated from the USB common pin. So when you power the USB circuit your pigeon gets stuck with your negative reference options. All in all, if you're willing to spend the extra $10 and give yourself 15 minutes to upgrade, you have a really nice soldering station with features you can't get from other manufacturers for the same price.

Pros
  • Stable results in testing
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
