We have been using the Petsafe bark collar on our Pyrenees mix for weeks and it has only singed his coat and irritated his throat. In other words, it wasn't strong enough to keep our stubborn dog from barking. Not only that, the band broke up. On the other hand, the Dogtra is extremely durable and the Petsafe looks like a cheap toy in comparison. Dogtra's power is much stronger and after barking, our dog would squeak and then magically stop barking. Yes, the impact is strong but not harmful, but also much more humane than the Petsafe device as one or two impacts is enough. I would prefer my dog NOT to be shocked which would permanently singe his fur and irritate his skin. A few barks was enough for my dog to realize that wearing a Dogtra collar means he'll stop barking. Funny how his behavior changes when he puts a collar on. Instead of roaming the garden at night and barking at wild animals or neighbors' dogs, if he puts on a collar, he simply lies down on his bed and calls it a day. So it definitely works, it lasts a long time, the power of the discharge means your dog will hit less and the training will be more efficient. Get this and don't mess around with a pet collar.
