Review on Black Chili Folding Tire by Continental Grand Prix by Kevin Taharka

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Beautiful road bike tire - amazing! - Continental Grand Prix Black Chili Folding Tire - 700 x 23cc

I bought this tire to replace my front tire. My previous Michelin Lithium front tires. 2, began to show some wear. I went to the nearest bike shop and checked some tires. I went back to the Revain website, did some research and decided to give it a try. I had never ridden Continental tires but most of the reviews were good so I decided to give it a try. Just got back from 25 miles. I drive around New England, mostly in the spring, summer, and fall. I typically ride about 75 miles a week. I'm quick to go over Michelin tires in terms of wear. The biggest difference I noticed compared to the Michelin was the thickness of the rubber in the tire. That extra thickness is good for preventing flat-out (confirmed by many reviews) and what I noticed is that the tire looked and felt more rounded. The Michelin seems to have more ground contact while the GP has a smaller ground contact area. Tires have extra thickness where the tube touches the tire. The tire rolled very well. I was very impressed. I've always ridden Michelin, but will switch to Continental. They seem to have created the best bike tire that holds up well and gives a great ride. The folding tire was easy to swap out and took shape as soon as I took it out of the box.
