Really great strap at Luggage & Travel Gear

I have a rather expensive laptop bag that I couldn't use because the original strap folded in half lengthwise causing painful cuts on my shoulder. The bag wasn't used for years until I finally checked to see if I could get a new strap. I bought the Op/Tech harness based on the reviews. I was a little worried because the pictures show the strap with hooks and in my old bag the strap is threaded right through the sewn on plastic buckles. I bought it anyway because I wanted to come up with something. Turns out the hooks on the strap are easy to remove so I can use it with no modifications to my old bag. The strap is thinner than my original strap, but I just doubled it through the buckle to make sure it wouldn't slip off. The difference was amazing. The soft middle part stretches a bit. This allows the weight of the bag to be more evenly distributed over the shoulder rather than all of the weight on the top. My bag is usually quite heavy (20+ pounds) and the strap makes it feel like 50% of its actual weight. I'm not exaggerating. At first I thought my laptop wasn't in the bag. The bottom of the pad holds well and prevents the bag from slipping off the shoulder. I usually carry a bag with a chest strap to ensure it doesn't fall off and for convenience. With this harness, you don't have to. Thank goodness because I wrecked my shoulder by constantly lifting the strap of my heavy bag over my head onto the opposite shoulder. I am very satisfied with this product. It exceeded my expectations and for about $20 I was able to use the $150 laptop case again. Update: 2 years later and the tape still works very well. The seams are still intact and the elasticity is good. It's pretty close to when I first got it. I use it every day with a fairly heavy bag. Update: almost 3 years later. The bracelet is showing its age. It's in good condition, but now I can feel lacerations on my shoulder. The bag is falling apart though, so I think the strap survived. Update: 4th year. The bag is dead but the strap lives.
