Suitable for 2006 GMC Sierra SLE!

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab. This winch replaced the old OEM unit. This winch doesn't have that damn locking mechanism that the GM winch has, so this winch actually lets you remove the tire without taking the entire assembly apart - like it should. I wish I had bought this sooner.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • Many items

Good product, good value for money.

Look, we're talking about a spare wheel winch UNDER a truck. I replaced the latter before I could even use it. So in a product I look for fit and value and this delivers both. Easy, worked like a charm. The real test is whether I need to use it and it still works. When that day comes (if) I will change my review.

Pros
  • a nice thing
Cons
  • a bit of change

Works but not great

I installed this on my 2006 Silverado. It doesn't hold the tire firmly to the frame unless it goes well past the point where the jack tells it to lift. There is a red mark on the cable that you must not pass, or it is defective and will not detach. I put some wooden blocks between the tire and frame to avoid this, but it looks silly and the tire sits low. It works, but it's not great.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Rust belt required

I live in a state that gets a lot of salt on the roads in the winter. The "safety" latch on the original winches will rust in place, locking the replacement after a few years. So if you need a spare wheel, it cannot be taken from stock. Newer GM winches cannot be modified to remove the fuse, this one doesn't even have one. The paint on the winch was a bit thin so I repainted before installing.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Available in white only

Works great, easily installed by an elderly woman! πŸ˜‚

Easy installation, just one screw, 10 minutes of work. I have a 2000 Silverado, it fits perfectly, it's identical to the old rusty one. The only issue I had is that it says not to go past the red mark on the cord when winding, but for a secure fit you should. Otherwise the tire wobbles. I have 265/75/16, I think they are 71/2" wide, not small tires. They are also standard on the car, I read in the reviews that someone had the same problem. So I'm wondering, whether the red mark isn't a bit…

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Low maintenance

Inexpensive, simple and perfectly matched to the bracket.

Fits perfectly on my GMC Sierra (2011). The hardest part of installing this product was removing an old rusty screw. It would have been nice if they had included a new screw but after I undid and cleaned the old one there was no problem getting it back. it's coming from the bumper. But most of the time, it just snaps into place with a light push. The total installation time with the old one removed I would say 5 minutes. Add 5 more to spin the hoop and that's it. And the price was 198. The car…

This baby is a BIG improvement over the original part.

So I bought a truck from my father. Chevrolet Z-71 2006 release. He recently had an apartment and needed help with height of street to change it for him (he is 70 years old). They got out and after 3 hours they still couldn't get the tire out from under the truck. They had to cut a steel cable to get him out of there. It turns out that the original version has a fuse that holds it even after it's lowered and doesn't release the tire until an additional latch on the mount is pressed. If you…

Perfect fit for 2005 Silverado 1500

Perfect fit for 2005 Silverado 1500 work truck with Original Equipment spare wheel and steel rim. The winch has correctly hooked the steel wheel and is holding the tire without going beyond the red mark. Other reviewers have encountered issues where the adapter was too small for their wheel center hole and had to tighten the winch past the red mark to hold the tire in place, but that wasn't my experience. I venture to guess that this is due to differences in spare tires. My work truck model has
