Review on πŸšͺ ROK Hardware Brass Magnetic Door Stopper, 3 Inches - ROKMDS1B by Kate Johnson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works on light core doors but not on heavy garage entry doors.

I bought this because it was exactly the finish I was looking for. When I received it I immediately noticed that the magnet was twice as weak as another brand I bought for comparison. I also noticed that only two screws needed to be attached to the drywall while the other brand had 3 screws. That was my first problem because I attach them to the top of the door so they don't get in the way when vacuuming or mopping. In any case, with a weaker magnet, two fastening screws were sufficient. I wanted to use this on a garage door but with a solid core door and spring hinges the magnet wasn't strong enough to hold the door. I ended up using it on a light core bedroom door and it worked fine except sometimes when I opened it the spring would bounce the door away from the magnet. The two pieces need to line up perfectly for the magnet to hold, which can be tricky. If you need to make adjustments, like I did, it's as simple as removing a screw on the part you're attaching to the door and turning it just enough to drill a new screw hole. Depending on which screw you remove, you can turn it in 4 different directions. TIP: Install the part with the magnet first and let it hold the other part, open the door and make sure the part is flush with the door when it touches. . With a short pencil, circle the part that will attach to the door. Now all you have to do is screw the second piece into the center of the circle you drew on the door. My second is burning.
