This antenna works great when installed outside the car. My install manual said I could install this in the truck behind the main unit/at the defrost vent, but NO SIGNAL AT ALL from that location. After installing it on the roof it worked great. Tip: Don't just use a magnet on the underside of the antenna, use high-quality double-sided adhesive tape. 3M makes tape specifically for body assembly, USE IT! or your antenna flies off in a car wash or in strong winds.
