Let me start by saying I've only had this mug for about 2 weeks but I already know it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. (Funny how small these things are, isn't it?) Ice-like material freezes fairly quickly. Was ready to use in my freezer in 3 hours. Keep soda, beer, water or almost any liquid ice cold. This is the best in my opinion - because it stays very cold, it actually freezes some of what you put in it! So you'll end up floating around with those little frozen chunks of cola, beer, soda etc while you drink. DELICIOUS! And when you prepare an alcoholic mixed drink, it stays as fresh as freshly made! So no more ice cubes diluting anything! After playing around with this for several days, I've come to the conclusion that if you pour a cold beverage into a mug, the cooling material will last you about 3+ hours. If you add a room temperature beverage (which defeats the purpose), the cooling material will last for about 1-2 hours. So I would suggest keeping a second mug in the freezer. So when the cooling material has melted, you can simply swap out the new mug in the freezer and the mug you used all night. You will never have a warm drink again. Having only recently had the mug I'm not sure how durable it is (the instructions say it can be hand washed) but so far I'm very happy with this purchase and recommend it.
